Text, why the fuss?

I think it’s important to when studying religious texts that they be investigated with respect. I think it is interesting that culture and tradition evolve based on interpretation of text. I kind of understood that texts in religious documents are intended for guidance, but I did not think about the motives of the author. I wonder if they had any idea of the impact, did they want to inspire or destroy? I also think it is interesting to think about how one’s understanding of the text can change with their emotional state. Just as the understanding can change with the reader’s emotion, perhaps the translations of religious texts is infused with the translator’s emotion. To me that is why it is important be clear headed and without bias when studying, and commenting on religious texts from any religion. Just as I would want scholars to be respectful of the Bible. I do not think until today I had given every religious text the respect they deserve. Texts are sacred to people and many have formed customs, rituals, beliefs and even civilizations based on the words written. What if all religion’s cosmic hierarchy originated from the same source, but the differences we have in traditions, rituals and beliefs come from human interpretation?
